Brother Walter Says
Happy New Year! Best wishes to you for a healthy and prosperous 2010! We have just crossed the threshold to a new year. By the time you get our Newsletter, the month of January will be gone. Yet, it is in my heart to wish you a happy new year!

Looking back over the past year, I do not see much that we accomplished. Politically it has been very devastating. Our political leaders have dropped the ball and things are as bad as they were in 1927. The job market is in a tail-spin. We have an abundance of oil, but they will not let them drill and refine it. So we end up shooting for a pipe dream of windmills and green power. Meanwhile the factories are shutting down for lack of power and the jobs are going overseas, where there is plenty of oil. The preacher is right; ultimately this is all “a pursuit of the wind.” (Eccl 2:11) In the end, we must revere the sovereign God for He alone is good. So the highest good that brings purpose and fulfillment is to reverence God and keep His commandments and not play God.

Spiritually, the state of our church is good! It is not what we want it to be, but in spite of flues, colds, people out of town for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years, our worship services have been on a spiritual high. God is blessing us with His presence. His church is alive! Thank you, Jesus!

Great things are planned for our immediate future. Our pastor, Bro. Gerald, is leading our church in outreach. We have more than 20 people each week going out to prospects. In addition, we are going to start Home Bible Studies; our focus will be on outreach. The need now is for faithfulness and intercessory prayer for our outreach effort. Let us all join together and work hard on this.

I want to say, “Thank You!” You were so kind to give us all the food, flowers, prayers, visits, and cards to me and my darling Mary when I was in the hospital and at home recuperating. You are a gracious people and I love you. We really appreciate you!
